Possessed and Death may consume brought destruction metal to life, only Obituary brought it to fruition. After cathartic some demos as Xecutioner as far back as 1986, the five-man band debuted as Obituary on Roadrunner Records in 1989 with Lento We Rot, and in a book, the record album was landmark. The previous forays into what would quickly become tagged as death metal — principally by the above-named bands, Possessed and Death, along with grindcore innovators Repulsion and Napalm Death — were exercises in inexorableness. These bands took the breakneck desert of Slayer’s Reign in Blood one stone’s throw further, to the spot of plain, sometimes even pathetic musical abandon. Obituary, on the other hand, wide-ranging their pace well — and did so at the absolute height of speed metallic element withal. Yes, the dance orchestra could playact at breakneck velocity, simply within the same vocal, guitarists Allen West and Trevor Peres could sluggish the pacing down pat to dirge-like levels in a moment’s notice, all the patch keeping the euphony as laboured as hell thanks to down-tuned guitars and the snarling vocals of John Tardy. As a result, Tardily We Rot made rather a splatter back in 1989, influencing an integral legion of destruction metal bands in Florida: Morbid Angel, Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Cannibal Corpse, and numerous others at present forgotten among the thousands of outside bands that followed. In a way, Tardily We Rot was the prototypal last metal album, establishing a template that would add up to define the vogue (one that is discrete from grindcore or calamitous metallic element, it should be pointed out). A few albums followed — Lawsuit of Death (1990) and The End Complete (1992) both besides very influential — simply by the mid-’90s Obituary had run its class and the band splintered, reuniting now and then. Yet level as the bandmembers went their seperate slipway (most notably West going on to often success as the guitar player of Six Feet Under), Obituary continued to stand tall as unmatched of the definitive death metal bands, if non the authoritative (a distinction that credibly goes to Death, whose James Murphy actually was a bandmember for a patch). Their in style, Xecutioners Return was released in August 2007 on the Candleight label.

Beastie Boys - Beastie Boys Yauch Defends Attack On Nestle In New Film

Published by admin under All movies

BEASTIE BOYS star ADAM YAUCH has a bitter taste in his mouth - after bosses at food and drink manufacturer NESTLE hit back at his movie which criticised the company’s bottled water products.
Yauch screened his documentary film Flow at last weekend’s (begs21Jun08) U.S. Nantucket Film Festival, claiming the Swiss-based firm is being environmentally irresponsible.
The film, distributed by Yauch and his company Oscilloscope Pictures, blames the growing privatisation of the world’s fresh water supply partly on the company, and others including Pepsi and Coca-Cola.
A source tells the New York Post that Nestle bosses were furious at Yauch after hearing the company’s name mentioned, revealing, “She (a company representative) stormed out about an hour in when the film named Nestle. The company obviously had no idea this content was in the movie. She told an audience member, ‘That was one-sided,’ on her way out and didn’t come back for the question and answer session afterwards.”
Yauch has refused to apologise for his honestly in the footage.
He tells the New York Post, “They (Nestle) put pretty pictures of springs and forests on the bottles, but in this movie they’re getting called out. I think it’s great. They lock down water as a commodity they can buy and sell. It’s terrifying.”
Yauch’s film is set to debut in New York this September (08).

Does ‘Wino’ Have ‘Crack Lung’?

Published by admin under All movies

A report in the U.K. newspaper The Sunday Mirror revealing that 24-year-old singer Amy Winehouse has been diagnosed with emphysema has many wondering how someone so young could be suffering from a disease that typically affects cigarette smokers in their 50s and 60s.
(Getty/ABC News)

But some doctors say that emphysema could be just one indication of the toll that hard living is taking on Winehouse’s lungs, adding that the singer may also be suffering from “crack lung,” a severe condition resulting from her alleged use of crack cocaine.

A person who has crack lung may experience fever, cough, difficulty breathing and severe chest pain within 48 hours after heavy crack-cocaine smoking. The condition can cause the air sacs in the lungs to become inflamed and scarred.

Back in January, video footage of Winehouse smoking what appeared to be a crack pipe surfaced.

“It seems as if there’s a history of crack use and drug use,” says Dr. Len Horovitz, pulmonary specialist and internist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. “I would surmise that she probably has had episodes of crack lung before this.”

Winehouse’s father, Mitch, told The Sunday Mirror that he rushed his daughter to the hospital on June 16 after she collapsed at her home in Camden, North London.

“With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up,” Mitch Winehouse told reporters Sunday. “There are nodules around the chest and dark marks.”

That description of the chest x-ray, which suggests scarring and inflammation, is what leads some doctors to suspect that crack lung could be the culprit. In addition, while emphysema is a chronic condition that develops over time, crack lung is an acute injury to the lung, and could have caused such a sudden trip to the hospital.

“She probably has two diseases: emphysema and crack lung,” says Dr. Norman H. Edelman, chief medical officer of the American Lung Association. “They’re similar, but not exactly the same.”

What’s the Difference?

Jim Jones introduces Byrd Gang

Published by admin under Music news

New album set for release Tuesday

NEW YORK — Rapper and Diplomat Records CEO Jim Jones is introducing his new rap group, Byrd Gang, through the debut album, “M.O.B.,” due Tuesday via Asylum. The MC also is prepping his as-yet-untitled Columbia debut album, slated for September.
Byrd Gang comprises Jones along with MCs Mel Matrix, NOE, Freekey Zekey, Sandman, Oshy and producer Chink Santana. First single “S.p.l.a.s.h.” features fellow Diplomats member Juelz Sanatana. Consumers who purchase “M.O.B.” via iTunes will receive six bonus tracks. Jones also said a second single is on the way in the next few weeks.
“There’s a record called “Byrd Gang Money’ that I never serviced but it’s playing in clubs up and down the East Coast,” Jones said. “I’m going to shoot that video along with the ‘Mr. Good Stuff’ video, which is the first single off my Columbia album, and release them together.”
For his Columbia debut, Jones has already hit the studio with Rick Rubin, Chink Santana, No ID, Supa Dave, Ron Brownz and Chris Styles. The MC was previously signed to Koch before landing at Columbia last year, where he’s shaping up to be their star artist. Jones said he’s taking the new attention and responsibility in stride.
“Nothing really makes me nervous but God and the dentist,” Jones said. “It’s just a different and better hustle for me. There’s more opportunity. Lil Wayne came out two weeks ago and I don’t see anybody in my way at all.”
Jones added that contemporary MCs wouldn’t struggle with record sales if they just gave consumers interesting all-inclusive packages, from distinctive music to personality.
“You’ve got Wayne selling 1 million units and that shows that people are ready to spend money on good music,” Jones said. “If you’re not special, they won’t be impressed to go into the store and buy into your lifestyle. That’s why they don’t have your record in their house and they pull that sh*t off the Internet.”
While Diplomats member Cam’ron, who has been absent from the hip-hop scene in the past year, isn’t on the album, Santana will definitely make an appearance. “No, there won’t be any Cam, which is a shame,” Jones said. “But you know, we’ve got to keep it moving.”
Jones’ sophomore solo album, “Hustler’s P.O.M.E.,” has moved 434,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
