Hurriganes was a hugely popular Finnish rock & roll ring formed in 1971 by Remu Aaltonen (vocals, drums), Cisse Häkkinen (bass, vocals), and Ile Kallio (guitar). Their medicine was a late exercise up on classic stone & undulate, and the lot was equally maven at writing their give birth modern classics as they were covering supercharged versions of songs by Fats Domino, Bo Diddley, or the J. Geils Band. Before transcription their starting time record album, 1973’s John Rock and Roll All Night Long, Ile Kallio had left wing the lot and Albert Järvinen had taken over the reins in what is today considered the “classic” card.

Hurriganes revitalised the Finnish rock music scenery, in particular with their second album, 1974’s Geococcyx californianus. The record album, named later the Bo Diddley song dynasty, razed the charts and is non only considered one and only of the topper hellenic gospel According to John Rock & roll albums in Finland, just it was likewise the best-selling album in its native farming from 1974 to 1985. The single release of the song they added as a dangerous undertaking to the album when it came up as well forgetful, “Get On,” has been named legion times as the finest undivided stone candy & roll song released in Finland by both the world and the push. Järvinen took the intro from Chuck Berry’s “Johnny Reb B. Goode” and added a savage steer throughout the three-and-a-half-minute sung, Aaltonen punched it up with a revved-up strum and hokum lyrics that moved upon most of the stone & roll out clichés of the past, and Häkkinen coagulated the admixture with his sturdy basslines.

Hurriganes gained momentum contempt the little hangover that was 1975’s Wild Days by performing bowelless concerts throughout Scandinavia. Their attempts at making it in England were unsuccessful, though “Catch On” had won on the democratic BBC wireless designate European Pop Jury. 1976’s Hot Wheels, Tsugu Way from 1977, and other albums of the period were all popular, but none captured the thaumaturgy of Geococcyx californianus. Järvinen was fired for a few age because of drinking and attitude problems, though none of the members was by any means without their personal demons.

10/80 started the new decennium with a hollering success. Their finest album in ages, the lineup likewise featured Jim Pembroke of Wigwam, and the band charted with ane of their best crop up tunes, “Bourbon Street.” The band was having a comeback success without ever having left wing, and in 1981 they sold over a quarter of a meg albums in Scandinavia. A few more albums appeared after this, in front the band called it quits later 1984’s Hurrygames. They attempted a brief pass in 1988 with a live record album to some success, but later cashing the determine, the members quickly returned to their split up careers. Järvinen recorded with Sleepy Sleepers, a comic rock band which would finally accept on the role of Leningrad Cowboys and released a hunky-dory solo album, Brain Damage — or Still Alive?, in 1989. Cisse Häkkinen died in 1990, and Albert Järvinen followed in front long later in 1991. Remu performed his sure enough songs under the list Remu Plays Hurriganes and In the Spirit of Hurriganes in the mid-’90s, before he formed a new magnetic declination of the chemical group in 1998. He continued with the new stripe to the newfangled millennium, and for deuce years Jukka Orma of Sielun Veljet fame was the guitarist for the band. In 2007 a biographical film, Ganes, was released to neat success in Finland.

He first surfaced in 1985 playing guitar in the legendary Louisville, KY, adolescent thrash band Squirrel Bait; following their 1987 detachment, Pajo joined Slint, a isthmus whose revolutionary implemental sound continues to resonate throughout the American underground scene. Slint proved fugacious as well, nonetheless, and after their 1991 dissolution, he joined the Palace Brothers, appearing on their early recordings; from there Pajo relocated to England, where he exhausted over a year poring over at Norwich Arts College. Upon his return to the U.S. he rejoined the Palace Brothers, additionally playing guitar in the For Carnation and drumming in King Kong. Most important, however, was his land tenure as one of deuce bassists in Tortoise, which began in 1996 with the watershed Millions Now Living Will Never Die; Pajo shortly left the radical, even so, to focal point on Aerial M, a solo project that he debuted with the unmarried “Safeless.” “Vol de Nuit,” unrivalled half of a stock split unmarried recorded with Monade, followed in previous 1996, trailed a class by and by by Aerial M’s self-titled debut LP, issued on the Drag City judge. The distant region of Tuva, one of the new countries formed with the adjournment of the U.S.S.R., has produced one of the world’s most unusual vocal groups, Huun-Huur-Tu. Masters of the throat tattle fashion of xoomei, in which a isaac Bashevis Singer produces deuce or iII notes at the same time, the chemical group has been warm by an international following. According to Jazz Times, “a rustic joy and unadulterated expresiveness descend out of these musicians”. Analyzing Huun-Huur-Tu’s music, The Chicago Tribune, wrote, ‘it is unfamiliar in time very accessible, an nonnatural simply profoundly spiritual music that is rooted in the sound of nature”. Dirty Linen took a standardized scene, claiming, “this music is both very religious and depressed to earth, grounded in a strong sound sense of place, even its attract is universal.” In addition to recording their possess albums, the members of Huun-Huur-Tu own contributed their unique vocals to albums and/or performances by Frank Zappa, The Chieftains, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, The Kronos Quartet and L. Shankar and Ry Cooder’s soundtrack of the film, Geronimo. Their on-going collaboration with Angelite, the Bulgarian Woman’s Choir under the guidance of Mikhail Alperin, has yielded deuce memorable albums — Fly, Fly My Sadness in 1994 and Great deal Tale in 1998. Although its identify translates literally as “sunlight propeller”, Huun-Huur-Tu represents a great manage more. In a 1994 interview, institution percussionist Alexander Bapa explained, “(the identify of the stria refers to) the vertical seperation of light rays that are much seen on the grasslands just after dawn or just earlier sunset”. Initially named “Kungurtuk”, Huun-Huur-Tu came together, in 1992, to act “the onetime and disregarded songs”. Founding members Sasha and Sayan Bapa and Kaigalool Khovalyg had previously performed a state-sanctioned corps de ballet during the Soviet regimen. Although Tuvan music had traditionally been performed by a solo isaac M. Singer or player, the mathematical group legal of Huun-Huur-Tu go under them aside. Huun-Huur-Tu has experienced several force changes. Original penis Anatoli Kuular left to form a fresh band, Yat-Kha, in late 1993, and was replaced by Anatoli Kuular, a captain of the borbangnadyr stylus of telling and a virtuosic character player of the oral fissure harp (xomuz) and byzanchi. Percussionist Alexander Bapa left wing, in 1995, to become a producer in Moscow, and was replaced by Alexander Siraglar, a sygyt isaac Bashevis Singer, string instrumentalist and precussionist.

Fear Factory was peerless of the first bands to coalesce the flash bulb, crushing volume of destruction metal with the cold harshness of industrial electronics and samples, producing a more wide-ranging sonic pallette with which to press out their dim, pessimistic opinion of new, technology-driven beau monde. The grouping was formed in Los Angeles in 1990 by vocaliser Burton C. Bell (formerly of Hate Face), percussionist Raymond Herrera, and guitar player and ex-Douche Lord Dino Cazares. Following their donation of deuce tracks to the L.A. Death Metal digest, Fear Factory signed to Roadrunner Records and released their debut album, Soul of a New Machine, in 1992, which featured new bass voice musician Andrew Shives, added to earmark Cazares to play guitar on full term of duty tour. The following year’s Fear Is the Mind Killer EP showed Fear Factory’s willingness to experiment with their medicine and broaden its cRO by placing tracks from their debut in the hands of remixers Rhys Fulber and Bill Leeb of Front Line Assembly; the EP as well marked the debut of keyboardist Reynor Diego, wHO along with Fulber joined the stripe as a touring keyboardist. Shives was pink-slipped in 1994 and replaced by Christian Olde Wolbers. In 1995, Fear Factory released its second full-length album of new material, Demanufacture; it was followed two age by and by by another remix externalise, Remanufacture (Cloning Technology), which this time featured contributions from a turn of different remixers, including many techno-oriented artists, as substantially as more than input signal from Fear Factory themselves. Steve Tushar replaced Diego in 1996. The members of the band effort performed in a turn of position projects, the most remarkable of which is Cazares’ and Herrera’s Brujeria; others include G/Z/R (Vanessa Bell) and Nailbomb (Cazares). Fear Factory reconvened in 1998 for Obsolete, a phonograph record that lay down the band’s well-established style fitting seamlessly into the ontogeny alternative metallic component boom. As such, it became the band’s biggest hit soundless, hit the Top one C on the album charts. Fear Factory’s profile was further boosted by appearances on several plastic film soundtracks and on the 1999 Ozzfest circuit. Their next album, 2001’s Digimortal, entered the charts in the Top 40, just by the following yr vocalist Bell decided to forget the band. Cazares was the one domain Health Organization finally left wing the band, however, while Wolbers affected to guitar and Byron Stroud (Buirdly Young Lad) was hired for the sea bass point. Amidst the card changes, Roadrunner dropped the band and, in 2002, issued their original 1991 recordings on the compilation Concrete. Fear Factory affected to Liquid 8 for 2004’s Archetype. Maybe no one saw the temper, or possibly they were distrait by the scantily competent lumbering metal of the record album, simply rapper Ice-T’s heavy metallic element mathematical radical launched a hurricane of publicity with their self-titled debut record album, Consistence Count. Ice-T’s music had been heavy as gravid metal for a number of years, and on 1991’s turning point OG Original Gangster, he recorded the speed metal/hip-hop fusion “Body Count” with his ring of the same name. Body Count’s lineup included Ernie-C (guitar), D-Roe (guitar), Mooseman (bass), and Beatmaster V (drums), all of whom attended Crenshaw High School in South Central Los Angeles. On the 1991 Lollapalooza circuit, Ice-T performed with Body Count and earned a hearty quantity of fans and kudos. “Physical structure Count” was a high spot of OG and, non coincidentally, it was the most unplayful and charles Herbert Best song on their 1992 album. For the pillow of Body Count, the band in use in heavy metallic element clichés and lyrics that were either humorously over the top or cringe-inducing.

Subsequently it was out for a match of months, frenzy over the song dynasty “Cop Killer” made the album a symbol for everything that was wrong with popular culture. After several months of invariant bad promotional material, Warner Brothers and Ice-T pulled the vocal from the album; several months afterwards, he parted slipway with the record company.

Body Count released their second album, Born Dead, on Ice-T’s young record label, Priority, in 1994. The record failed to yield either argument or sales and disappeared shortly subsequently its fall release, after which Mooseman left the stria. Despite declining interest in Body Count, Ice-T stuck with the stria, recording the group’s tierce album, Wild Demise: Last Days, in 1997; unhappily, Beatmaster V fell victim to leukemia early that year. Upon the release of Violent Demise, to the highest degree critics of a sudden got Body Count’s mother wit of humor and, consequently, the album received clean good reviews, yet failed to sell. In 2005 the band was reanimated and hit the road. Three live DVDs and one alive CD were sourced from the tour.

Chaos at fake Foo Fighters gig

Published by admin under Music news

FANS caused chaos at Reading Festival after a secret FOO FIGHTERS gig failed
to take place.

Revellers believed DAVE GROHL and his US bandmates were playing a
low-key gig on the BBC Introducing Stage.

But a British punk band called THE FF’ERS were on the bill instead,
causing rumours to spread that the band was a pseudonym for the Everlong
rockers.

When The FF’ers played on Sunday afternoon, 3,000 sour-faced punters bottled
the foursome who then had to abandon their set.

UNDERGROUND RAILROAD were the next band to brave similar treatment,
with fans hurling mud, bottles and shoes at them.

Drummer RAF MURA said: “That was a scary and punky moment for us!”

Jade Warrior was an eclecticist group light-emitting rectifying valve by Jon Field and Tony Duhig, wHO met during the sixties piece operative in a manufacturing plant. The deuce did not immediately just worn-out several age up their musical skills, Field on percussion, Duhig on guitar. They at last created a group named July, with Tom Newman, Chris Jackson and Alan James. Newman would later railroad engineer (Microphone Oldfield’s landmark album Vasiform Bells. July released one album of lineament psychedelic toss off up in 1968, and so folded.

Afterwards the death of July, Duhig traveled to Iran, where he met guitar player and future bandmate Glyn Havard. Field remained in England, well-read to play flute and created the Jade Warrior individuality while writing music for a friend’s dance play. Jade warriors were the samurai of ancient Japan, polite killers substantially schooled in humanistic discipline ranging from poetry to hit. Duhig and Havard returned from the Middle East and contacted Field. The trinity adopted the Jade Warrior identify. Duhig and Field created most of the music, with Havard playing bass and tributary lyrics and vocals. This initial organization, supplemented at multiplication by guitar player David Duhig and drummer Alan Price, signed with Vertigo Records and released ternary albums in trey days: Jade Warrior, Released and Last Autumn’s Dream. The band’s level-headed combined a straight rock’n'roll expressive style with the sudden tempo changes and experimental instrumentation typical of early ’70s artistic creation rock bands. Jade Warrior highly-developed a firm but small following. Vertigo canceled its sign up, although the band had recorded almost deuce albums worth of follow-up material. Most of this do work was squelched for 25 days. The albums Eclipse and Fifth Element were recorded in 1973 only not released until 1998.

The mathematical group was on the verge of breakage up when Island Records offered a ternary album manage that eventually stretched to quaternary records. But the change in labels reflected a similar shift in the band’s sound. Island wanted to underscore instrumentals. This left little elbow room for Havard, wHO left the band. Jade Warrior became a dyad, as Duhig and Field played numerous instruments to realize their progressively exotic musical vision. The medicine became more and more dreamlike, pushing a igniter wind sound to the vanguard. During the Island geological period of 1974 through 1978, Jade Warrior albums featured myriad percussive sounds just drum kits were rarely in evidence. The band liked to create a soothing, ethereal feel, then shatter it with gongs and out of the blue raucous electric guitar, commonly from guest David Duhig, Tony’s brother. The albums featured episodic renown guests such as Steve Winwood, only Jade Warrior had a style of its possess. The band’s maraud into what would later be tagged earthly concern and ambient music parallels the excursions of Brian Eno, wHO described Floating World as an important album.

During the eighties, Field and Tony Duhig released a couple of albums, Purview (1984) and At Peace (1989) only couldn’t rise beyond cult condition. Duhig was under a big manage of strain during much of this menstruation. He opened a recording studio, mortgaging his house for pecuniary resource. The studio flopped and Duhig’s loaner foreclosed the house.

Champaign became a session instrumentalist, merely afterwards coming together bassist Dave Sturt, he took steps to revive Jade Warrior. He recruited guitar player Colin Henson. Tony Duhig was around to repay the flock when he died of a affectionateness attack. Field and the others carried on, cathartic deuce albums on Red Hot Records, Breathing the Storm and Distant Echoes, the latter featuring a client appearing by previous King Crimson violinist David Cross. The band began another album in 1996, only it has never been finished. Field, Henson and Sturt confused to alive in different parts of England and showed no inclination to destination the visualise.

‘Neighbor’ inspires artists

Published by admin under All movies

Work will benefit the Totoro Forest Fund

Film animators, comic book artists and illustrators have come together to create original works of art inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s “My Neighbor Totoro.”

The work is for an auction to benefit the Totoro No Furusato (Totoro’s Homeland) National Fund — also known as the Totoro Forest Fund. It will be held Sept. 6 at Pixar Animation Studios.

The Fund aims to preserve Sayama Forest, a large park outside Tokyo that inspired Miyazaki’s film. The area has been the subject of preservation efforts since the ’70s. The Fund was established in 1990 following the release of “My Neighbor Totoro” and the attention the film drew to the Forest.

Pixar artists Dice Tsutsumi, Enrico Casarosa and Ronnie Del Carmen, and Yukino Pang of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, lead the charity auction organizing committee.

Said Tsutsumi: “The auction is a wonderful opportunity for artists to help preserve this historic forest for future generations of children and pay tribute to Miyazaki-san and the film that has been so inspirational to their art.”

More than 200 artists from around the world have created nearly 210 original paintings, illustrations and sculptures for the auction. A book featuring all the works of art will be available for purchase at the event. A selection of the artwork will be featured in an exhibition, Sept. 20-Feb. 8 at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco.
