The winner of MTV’s reality search to find the star of the Legally Blonde musical has now landed the lead in the stage adaptation of High School Musical.

Bailey Hanks will play Sharpay in the upcoming production of Disney’s High School Musical.

Hanks, the winner of Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods, is the first star named to the cast.

â??Spider-Manâ??, directed by â??The Lion Kingâ??s â??Julie Taymor, is currently operating on a budget of $40 million and the show is expected to have a weekly running cost of $1 million.

The budget may be reduced to a mere $35 million, which means that the musical would have to run for around 8,000 years to break even, according to calculations in todayâ??s New York Post.

According to the report, the enormous budget has been earmarked for designers, ranging from set to costume to fight designers,

The show is scheduled to open on Broadway next year.

Nights and Weekends removes practically all surrounding environment for its characters except two giant constructs: distance and time. Swanberg and Gerwig play James and Mattie, a young couple trying to make their romance work though he lives in Chicago, she in New York. Our introduction to this pair is remarkably efficient: With a single, fixed shot, James and Mattie enter an apartment and, without getting five feet past the door, breathlessly remove each other’s clothing, small suitcase in the corner. No dialogue, but we get it.

When the couple finally does talk, it’s a treasure. Swanberg and Gerwig are as good as any young actors out there (she especially), sharing the mundane and the important with no great pendulum swings in drama. All the while, the pressure and confusion of their short weekends together breathes just under the surface, and anyone who’s ever suffered a long-distance relationship will feel the authenticity.

Both actors — and their characters — are willing to explore all the discomforts that come with love, and the sincerity (and nudity) is almost shocking by today’s near-rote standards. When James devours a banana, Mattie bitches that it looks and sounds disgusting. As James continues eating, we’re sure she’s right, and love that such a ridiculous observation is in the film. Later, when the couple discusses facial expressions they’ve inherited from their parents, it’s just as entertaining, but more welcome and intimate.

For those who need exposition in their movies, well, how much do you need? Compared to some other mumblecore features, Nights and Weekends does have a greater ebb and flow, but it takes a little work to catch before it’s telegraphed. It definitely makes for a satisfying story arc, but if you’re expecting a typical three-act romance, forget it.

But hey, who needs comprehensive story when you can examine interesting characters so exclusively? I can’t recall a film with as much character insight as this one; not necessarily character development, but insight. There are plenty of films where the viewer acts as voyeur but, in this case, it’s in extreme close-up (figuratively and literally) and with an unflinching eye.

Another step forward is Nights and Weekends‘ distinct play as an artistic film. In one of the film’s final scenes, James and Mattie examine digital photos of themselves while wearing the same out-of-character clothing they wore when posing for the pictures. They’re a version of themselves spying another version of themselves — and they acknowledge it. It’s a self-consciousness that’s poetic, melancholy, and a little meta. The whole sequence is a thrill to watch.

As with a lot of (all?) mumblecore films, there’s no musical soundtrack. Aside from financial considerations, the absence of audio actually works. The only sound accompanying the couple is from their own world, one of tight spaces — hallways, apartments, a small hotel room — and stumbling intentions.

After seeing Nights and Weekends, my wife and I began talking… and I had the odd feeling we were following the same cadence as the film’s characters. Either the movie’s tone is that affecting, or Swanberg and Gerwig’s performances are that real. Either way, future entries in the genre have something to work toward.

Tom Wopat, a/k/a Luke Duke, was stopped at the security checkpoint at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee. The TSA peeps say they found 1.2 grams of weed.

TSA called the Sheriffs and the good ol’ boy got a $500 ticket, which he paid on the spot. We don’t believe Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane was behind any of it.

British actress Sarah Douglas has reportedly launched an attack on her late Superman co-star Christopher Reeve - branding him “dull” and “difficult” to work with.

Douglas, who played baddie Ursa in two of the iconic superhero movies, has spoken out about her true feelings for Reeve, who died in 2004 from a heart attack after years of being wheelchair-bound following a horse-riding accident in 1995.

And the 55-year-old apparently admits she wasn’t his biggest fan on the sets of Superman and Superman II, insisting he got wrapped up in playing the beloved role.

According to Britain’s Daily Express, she said: “I’ve never really spoken about Christopher because he is no longer here to defend himself.

“But I used to be continually asked about him and, choosing my words carefully, would always say he’s very much like Clark Kent: a real gent - very polite and perhaps a little dull.

“I never really knew him that well. I socialised with everybody else but not him. But at the beginning he was a very fresh-faced young American and at the end it was difficult. He definitely got caught up with his own Superman image.”

And the actress soon realised she wasn’t the only one struggling to work alongside Reeve - she alleges Margot Kidder, famous for her role as Lois Lane in the films, described him as “a right pain in the a***”.

And Douglas admits this made her feel better about her own opinions, adding: “I was so relieved that somebody else had found him tricky.”

With a new film documentary, “Paris, Not France” about the business of being Paris, a reality TV show called “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” in which she goes tongue-in-cheek in search of a new best friend, her own fashion line, and a new album coming soon, Hilton, 27, is likely to be even more in the limelight over the next few months.

Already one of the most photographed women in the world, Hilton sat down with to talk about the lines between privacy and trading on her fame, and how she sees her future.

Q: What’s the most annoying misconception people have about you?

A: “The one that ’she doesn’t work’. I am literally running a huge corporation. I have my clothing lines, my champagne, my watches, shoes and purses and dog clothes — every sort of product you can imagine. I am doing movies. I am doing my record right now, producing, starring in a TV show. So it is a 24 hour, seven day-a-week job. I work all the time, so I laugh when I hear people say that.”

Q: Where do you draw the line between your privacy, letting the public see who you are, and the need to promote yourself.

A: “I am basically always on camera. From the moment I leave my house in the morning, the paparazzi are waiting there until I go to bed at night. So it is natural to be doing this TV show. I don’t even know the cameras are there. I still have my private life. When I go home I have my pets and my boyfriend.”

Q: Los Angeles city officials have been discussing proposals to curb the paparazzi, and create a “personal safety zone” between celebrities and photographers. Is that something you support?
