Lennox undergoes spinal surgery
Annie Lennox has undergone spinal surgery for a back injury she sustained in Mexico.
The singer’s spokesperson said that Lennox, 53, suffered a back spasm while attending the international AIDS conference in Mexico.
Surgeons operated on the former Eurhythmics star at a London hospital at the weekend to release an impinged nerve.
The singer wrote on her online blog: “I came back to the UK and got wheeled off the plane… Felt a bit like Elizabeth Taylor.”
The release of Lennox’s forthcoming album, a retrospective of 14 songs which had been due next month, has been postponed until next year.
Lennox said: “Some of my plans and schemes have to be put on hold because there’s not much I can do if I can’t walk properly.”
A spokesman for record company SonyBMG said: “Annie would like to send her thanks and appreciation to all that have sent their well wishes in the past few days.”
